Like its name says, a Savings Lock temporarily ‘locks’ a savings goal. That means you can't withdraw money from that savings goal. But you can always deposit money into it. If you need money, you can easily unlock it again. After unlocking, you'll need to wait either 2 or 4 hours before you can make a withdrawal. You select the waiting time when you first lock a savings goal. You can set up a Savings Lock if you have a Savings Account (Oranje Spaarrekening) and at least 1 savings goal. For emergency purposes, 1 savings goal is always left unlocked - be sure to maintain an amount you might need in unexpected situations.

No problem! Simply unlock the savings goal.
The waiting time goes into effect. How long you'll have to wait depends. You select the waiting time – either 2 or 4 hours – when you lock a savings goal. When the waiting time is over, you can make the withdrawal.
When you've withdrawn what you need, you can lock your saving goal again. This way, your savings goal will remain within reach, and you'll stay in control.
Need money right away? No problem. At least 1 of your savings goals will always stay unlocked for emergency purposes. We recommend depositing some money into that savings goal so you can immediately access it should the unexpected happen. That's because a locked savings goal must first be unlocked before you can make a withdrawal. This takes either 2 or 4 hours, after the request to unlock the savings goal is made.
Please note: If you're overdrawn or in arrears, ING can access your locked savings goals. This way, your arrears won't increase too much.
