For example, if the total of your deposits at ING is €130,000, you’ll receive €100,000.</p>"}},{"componentType":"sectionTitle","title":"I have a joint account"},{"componentType":"paragraph","richBody":{"value":"<p>If you have a joint current or savings account, the maximum protection is €200,000. Each account holder can get back a maximum of €100,000. Both banks are covered by the ING Bank N.V. licence, which means the Dutch Deposit Guarantee protects up to €100,000. No compensation is given for the remaining €20,000.</p>"}}]},{"componentType":"sectionTitle","title":"ING Groenbank merges into ING Bank"},{"componentType":"paragraph","richBody":{"value":"<p>On 1 July 2024, ING Groenbank N.V. ceased to exist as a legal entity. ING Groenbank N.V. is now part of ING Bank N.V., which means all savings at ING Groenbank N.V. have been transferred to ING Bank N.V. All deposits transferred to ING Bank N.V. are protected by the Dutch Deposit Guarantee of ING Bank N.V. The Dutch Deposit Guarantee protects deposits at ING Bank N.V. up to €100,000. The tax aspects of the green savings deposit and the ING savings deposit terms and conditions stay the same if ING Groenbank ceases to exist as a legal entity. The only change is that ING Bank N.V. will be listed in the terms and conditions as the deposit manager.</p><p>Eligible deposits can be withdrawn free of charge (amounts over €100,000) up to 1 September 2024, if desired.</p>"}},{"componentType":"sectionTitle","title":"Additional protection in specific situations broadened as of 1 September 2024"},{"componentType":"paragraph","richBody":{"value":"<p>Are you buying a home, or have you sold your home? Have you received a pension payment, incapacity for work benefit, severance pay, life insurance benefit or an inheritance? Do you expect to receive money due to the end of a marriage or registered partnership? Or have you received an insurance benefit or compensation for loss or damage because you were a victim of a crime or wrongful conviction? If a lot of money is deposited into your account for any of these reasons, it gets additional protection for six months after the amount is credited to your account. The additional protection in these specific situations is a maximum of €500,000. That’s on top of the regular €100,000 guarantee. Is that covered by the deposit guarantee scheme?","richBody":{"value":"<p>From 1 January 2014, tax-efficient blocked savings accounts for mortgage repayment (bank savings account for your own home) will be set off against the corresponding mortgage debt. One very common type is the savings-based mortgage, where you pay interest but don’t repay the loan in instalments. This includes saving a monthly sum that’s used, along with the interest, to pay off the mortgage on maturity. That’s known as a bank savings deposit for your own home.</p><p>If the <a href=\"https://www.dnb.nl/betrouwbare-financiele-sector/nederlandse-depositogarantie/\">deposit guarantee scheme</a> is activated, the bank savings deposit for your own home will be set off against your mortgage. In most cases, your deposit will be less than your mortgage debt. This means that the balance of the bank savings deposit for your own home will decrease to €0. Only if your savings deposit exceeds your mortgage debt will the remainder be eligible for compensation under the deposit guarantee scheme, up to €100,000.</p><p>Whenever a savings deposit is held for buying or selling a property, there’s a temporary additional guarantee up to €500,000 for three months after you make your deposit. That comes on top of the regular €100,000 guarantee. Will they be set off against each other if I claim compensation under the deposit guarantee scheme?","richBody":{"value":"<p>Basically, there’s no set-off between credit and debit products. However, credit balances on debit products are covered by the deposit guarantee scheme. Some examples are credit balances on credit cards, loans and mortgages from making extra payments, paying too much interest or repaying too much principal.</p><p>From 1 January 2014, tax-efficient blocked savings accounts for mortgage repayment (Spaarrekening Eigen Woning (SEW)) will be set off against the corresponding mortgage debt.
