Outside Europe, you could still pay via the magnetic strip in the card. With that method it was possible to copy card data and thus commit skimmingfraud. That is why for trips outside Europe you had to put yourself temporarily on ‘World’ coverage.

But that's no longer needed, because in the meantime, payments by chip have become standard outside Europe. That's why on July 1st we put the default coverage of your debit card on "World" and you can safely withdraw and pay money in almost all places in the world. And on some Caribbean islands plus Bermuda you can no longer withdraw money from some ATMs with your card. So take a credit card with you to these destinations or pay with cash.

Can I still put my coverage back on ‘Europe’?
No, you can't. All debit cards are set to worldwide use by default from 1 July 2024.

Does the magnetic strip disappear from the debit cards?
No. You can no longer pay with it, but the magnetic strip remains on the debit card. With this strip, for example, you get access to the room with the ATM in it when you are abroad.
"},"title":"Concerning the global debit card coverage"},{"richBody":{"value":"
We have a joint current account and we live as account holders at different addresses. We both receive a paper statement. So what has changed?
Nothing actually changes. We have only adapted our terms and conditions in this regard to how we send paper statements in this situation to both addresses.

We have a joint current account and as account holders we live at the same address. However, there are two copies of the same paper statement in one envelope. How is that possible?
In this case, your residencies are recorded differently in our database. For example, Vlijmen and Vlymen. To solve this (because it is a waste of the paper of course) we advise you to correct the residency to the one where it is wrong. This can be done in the app or My ING (via Personal Details). If you don't use digital banking, please call our Customer Service.

Do I pay more for the second paper statement at the other address?
No, the paper statement at the second (other) address does not cost anything extra. Depending on your payment package, you will pay separately for 1 paper statement (OranjePakket or OranjePakket met korting) or the monthly paper statements are included in your package (BasisPakket, BetaalPakket or RoyaalPakket).

What does the Civil Code (BW) say about recovering costs for a debt collection agency, for example?
Article 6:96 of the Dutch Civil Code states, among other things, that we may recover from you the costs we incur to collect our claim. This must specify the costs involved and that no more costs may be recovered than indicated by law. Furthermore, the same article states what procedure must be followed when recovering costs. For example, we must first have ordered you to pay within 14 days without any result before you owe the costs.
"},"title":"Concerning the changes in the Betaalrekening Terms and Conditions"},{"richBody":{"value":"
What is the MoneyBackService?
With both the current debit cards and the new Debit Mastercard and Visa Debit Cards, the MoneyBackService is included.
