For cash withdrawals in a foreign currency, there’s a %{prijs.btp:creditcards_nieteuro.koersopslag.standaard.perc}% currency mark-up.</p>"},"textLinks":[{"text":"Differences between a debit card and credit card","url":"/en/personal/payments/creditcards/credit-card"}],"title":"Payments and cash withdrawals"},{"componentType":"paragraph","richBody":{"value":"<p>Are you given the choice between the local currency and euros when making a payment or withdrawing cash?</p><p>If you choose to pay in the local currency, you’ll use Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC). With DCC, the exchange rate of the local payment service provider is applied. If you pay in euros, ING’s exchange rate will apply instead.</p><p>With DCC, payment service providers in the EEA are required to tell you their currency mark-up, expressed as a percentage relative to the <a href=\"https://www.ecb.europa.eu/stats/policy_and_exchange_rates/euro_reference_exchange_rates/html/index.en.html\">ECB</a> reference rate, before you confirm the payment, such as at an ATM. This requirement does not apply outside the EER.</p><p>Foreign shops, hotels and restaurants and banks almost always use a higher euro conversion rate than ING.</p>"},"title":"Choose the local currency"},{"componentType":"paragraph","richBody":{"value":"<h4>ING exchange rate</h4><p>Exchange rates are used to convert foreign currency transactions into euros. For credit cards, we use the exchange rate provided by Mastercard. We charge extra for converting foreign currency transactions into euros; we call that a currency mark-up. The currency mark-up is %{prijs.btp:creditcards_nieteuro.koersopslag.standaard.perc}%, which means we increase the exchange rate by %{prijs.btp:creditcards_nieteuro.koersopslag.standaard.perc}%.</p><h4>ECB-reference rate</h4><p>In addition to the exchange rate we get from Mastercard, the European Central Bank (<a href=\"https://www.ecb.europa.eu/stats/policy_and_exchange_rates/euro_reference_exchange_rates/html/index.en.html\">ECB</a>) publishes its own foreign exchange rate. The European Commission has chosen the ECB exchange rate as its reference rate.  To be transparent towards their customers, all payment service providers in the EEA must indicate what currency mark-up they charge.<br /><br /><strong>ING exchange rate calculator</strong></p><p>You can use the <a href=\"https://www.ing.nl/particulier/betalen/buitenland/betaalpas/wisselkoerscalculator.html\">ING exchange rate calculator</a> to see our mark-up expressed as a percentage relative to the ECB reference rate. You can compare that with the rate used by the local payment service provider to decide whether to use Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC). Experience shows that local payment service providers often use a higher exchange rate than ING.</p>"},"title":"Exchange rates"},{"componentType":"paragraph","richBody":{"value":"<p>From the end of April 2021, the first time you pay for something in a foreign currency in a calendar month in one of the <a data-type=\"internal\" href=\"/particulier/betalen/buitenland/landen-eurozone-europese-economische-ruimte-en-sepa\">EEA</a> countries, we’ll send you a message in My ING and the ING App. That will tell you how our currency mark-up compares, by percentage, with the ECB reference exchange rate at that time.</p><p>If you don’t want to receive those messages, you can turn off that option in the <a href=\"https://mijn.ing.nl/login/?eai=true&amp;Target=https://mijn.ing.nl%2Fbanking%2Fsettings%2Fcommunication\">communication settings</a> in My ING.</p><h4>Always on top of your spending</h4><p>You can see your credit card purchases instantly in the ING App and My ING – so that you always stay on top of your spending. If you prefer, you can make extra credit card payments in your ING App too. It’s super easy.</p><h4>In the event of loss, theft or misuse</h4><p>If your credit card has been lost or stolen, call the <span><span><span lang=\"EN-US\" dir=\"ltr\"><span>Emergency Line </span></span></span></span>on +31 (0) 20 22 888 00 (open 24/7). We’ll block your credit card immediately to prevent misuse and then provide further assistance.</p>"},"title":"Messages in My ING and the ING App"},{"componentType":"paragraph","richBody":{"value":"<p>If you want to pay with your credit card in shops, restaurants or while travelling, you’ll need your PIN. Forgotten your PIN? No problem. You can easily request a new one in the ING app. You’ll receive your PIN at your correspondence address within 3 working days after the request.</p><p>Unfortunately, it’s not possible to receive your PIN urgently or digitally. Requesting a new PIN takes up to three working days.</p><p>Please note: you can add your credit card to Apple Pay or Google Pay. After that, you can apply for a new credit card. Once you’ve received the credit card, you can easily <a href=\"https://www.ing.nl/en/personal/payments/creditcards/activate-credit-card\">activate</a> it and start using it again.</li><li>Has your credit card been <a href=\"https://www.ing.nl/en/personal/payments/creditcards/replace-credit-card\">replaced automatically</a>?
