If you accidentally made a payment that was not required, this is considered an undue payment. In that case, the recipient is legally required to return the money.</li><li><p>Your bank may be able to advise you on the next steps and, in some cases, offer mediation. Mediation means that we will send a written request to the recipient, asking them to return the money within a specified period.
