How to add an icon
With a Maestro/VPay debit card, you cannot use Mobile Payment via Apple Pay, Google Pay or Garmin Pay as an account representative.
ING has started issuing new debit cards from Visa Debit and Debit Mastercard. When your Maestro/VPay debit card needs replacing, you will automatically receive a new card. As an authorized person on an account, with a Visa Debit or Debit Mastercard debit card, you can use Mobile Payments.

Delete Apple Pay
You can delete the debit card from Apple Wallet at any time.
The debit card has been permanently removed from your wallet. The transaction history is no longer visible in the wallet after deletion. You can reactivate your debit card for Apple Pay at any time.
Note: Removing a debit card in the wallet on your phone will not remove it on your Apple Watch. A debit card must be deleted separately in the wallet on your Apple Watch.

How does the verification code for Apple Pay work?
You’ll receive a verification code when you try to add a new card to your Apple Wallet. You’ll receive this code on the telephone number that you’ve provided to ING.
Do I need an internet connection to make a payment with Apple Pay?
You do not need an internet connection to make a payment with the debit card that you’ve added to Apple Pay. However, if you’ve added a card to Apple Wallet by using the ING App, then you will need an internet connection.

You can activate mobile payments a maximum of twice a day or a maximum of three times every 30 days. This limit applies per combination of debit card and mobile phone/device.
After reaching this limit, you’ll see an error message during the activation process: ‘Card device limit’. Depending on how many times you’ve activated mobile payments, you can try again later. Or use a different phone or select a different debit card.

You can activate one card per IBAN. In addition, depending on the type of device (from Iphone 8 and Apple Watch 3) and the version of iOS you have (from iOS 17), you can activate an unlimited number of payment cards. For older types, the maximum is 8. If you have a valid ING Creditcard you can also add it to Apple Pay.
How do I choose which card to pay with?
Before approving the payment, tap the picture of the card that you want to use. It will now appear in front of your other cards. You can change the default mobile card in the phone settings and in the Wallet & Apple Pay setting where you’ll scroll down to Transaction Defaults and set your default card. For your watch, you can change the default debit card on your watch or in the Apple Watch app on your iPhone. On the Mac, go to System Preferences and select Wallet & Apple Pay. Then scroll down to Default Card and choose the debit card that you want to use.
Can I still pay with Apple Pay if I’ve blocked my plastic VPay or Maestro debit card?
Yes, you can still use Apple Pay.
Can I still pay with Apple Pay if I’ve blocked my plastic card of Visa Debit or Debit Mastercard?
When you did block your Visa Debit or Debit Mastercard, you cannot use that card anymore to pay with Apple Pay. After unblocking your (plastic) card, mobile payments with Apple Pay will be available again.
Can I pay with Apple Pay if I turn off contactless payments for my debit card?
Yes, making payments with your debit card in Apple Wallet is separate from making contactless payments with your plastic debit card. You can make payments as usual at payment terminals and in applications and online shops that accept Apple Pay payments with Maestro.
