It’s also important to consider the risks of death, disability, unemployment, and retirement—and whether you want to insure these risks.</p><p><strong>Conditions for renewal and conversion at the end of the term:</strong></p><ul><li>You are within a maximum of 18 months before the end of your mortgage term.</li><li>You choose from an Interest only, Annuity, or Linear mortgage. You’ll be tied to your mortgage for a longer period, so you must be able to pay it in good times and bad—such as if you work less, retire, or your partner passes away.</p><p>We test your knowledge through a <a href=\"https://www.ing.nl/particulier/hypotheek/jouw-hypotheek/kennis-en-ervaringstoets\">knowledge and experience test</a> to ensure you have the right understanding to renew and convert your mortgage yourself.</p><p><strong>We have the following conditions:</strong></p><ul><li>Successfully complete the knowledge and experience test.</li><li>If you are self-employed: at least 3 full finalized financial years and a maximum of 2 businesses. (If you have fewer than three full years and more than two businesses, our advisors are ready to discuss renewal and conversion with you.)</li><li>If you do not fully understand the impact of renewal and conversion on your current and future financial situation, then doing this without advice is not suitable for you.</li></ul><p>We recommend <strong>not</strong> renewing and converting without advice in the following situations:</p><ul><li>You have little knowledge and experience with mortgages.</li><li>You want advice on a suitable fixed-interest period, repayment type, and term.</li><li>You want more insight into the risks of income loss due to death, disability, unemployment, and retirement—and how to insure these risks.</li></ul><p><strong>Note:</strong> When renewing and converting without advice, we assess whether your income is sufficient. We also consider your expected pension income if you retire within 10 years.
