If your window frames are in good shape, you really only need to replace the glazing. HR++ high-performance glazing could be a good option. This type of glazing offers the highest insulation value for existing window frames. With HR++ glazing, you could save much more energy compared to regular double glazing. But first, you’ll need to make sure your current window frames are compatible with thicker and heaver types of glazing.

If your window frames need to be replaced now or within 10 years, triple glazing with new insulating window frames and double draft sealing is your best bet. That’s before subtracting the government subsidy. So how much will you save at the end of the day? Let’s say that currently, all your windows are double glazed. You would then save between €100 and €210 on your energy bill, depending on the energy prices. If the second or third reflection has a different colour (typically blue or pink), it’s HR glass. The coating of the glass causes the colour to appear differently.
