The energy label provides insight into the energy efficiency of a home. It is based on an assessment of the home’s insulation and the systems required for heating, cooling, hot water and ventilation. The energy consumption of household appliances is not included.
An energy label indicates how much fossil fuel a home consumes per square metre (kWh/m2). The ratings range from A++++ (very energy efficient) to G (very inefficient). This makes an energy label a source of valuable information about a home. The lower its fossil energy consumption, the better the label.

However, since properties with an energy label E, F, or G require more measures to make them more sustainable, buyers of such properties can borrow a larger additional amount to install energy-saving measures than buyers of properties that are already more energy-efficient.

For improvement steps, you can consider installing a heat pump or solar panels for the use of renewable energy. This is even better for your energy bills and the environment.

A few insulation measures may have been taken, but they can be improved. Examples are high-performance glazing or floor, roof or wall insulation, depending on what has already been done. Better insulation and ventilation improve the comfort of your home and reduce your energy bills.
