Do you want your partner, and perhaps your children, to continue living in the home? If so, has the mortgage been paid off? If it hasn’t, does your partner have enough income to pay the mortgage? </p><ul><li>Perhaps your partner has money set aside and can use part of it to pay the mortgage. </li><li>Or your partner may be entitled to <a href=\"http://www.rijksoverheid.nl/onderwerpen/algemene-nabestaandenwet-anw\">surviving dependant’s benefit</a> (sometimes referred to as ANW benefit). </li><li>If you’re saving for a surviving dependant’s or partner’s pension through your employer, check your Uniform Pensioen Overzicht (uniform pension statement) to see how much the pension will be.</li></ul><p><strong>Choose financial security</strong></p><p>You can take out a life insurance policy (death cover). This is insurance on your and/or your partner’s life that is effective until a certain date. If you or your partner were to pass away before the insurance end date, a guaranteed amount will be paid out and used to pay off the mortgage. </p><p><strong>Make a will</strong> </p><p>A will is an official document that lets you specify who will inherit what. Important to know: if you and your partner live together without being married and without a cohabitation agreement, your partner will not automatically be your heir.
