Once you become overdrawn, you have up to three months to bring your account back into a positive balance. Your balance must be €0 or higher for at least 24 consecutive hours. If you remain overdrawn without permission for 3 months or longer, we are required to report the payment arrears to the BKR. The arrears are recorded in the credit register using specific codes. This is called a negative registration. A negative BKR-registration may affect future applications for credit, such as a loan or mortgage.
