This allows you to make card payments, withdraw cash, and pay your bills at times when you don’t have enough money in your account. Instead, it is designed as a flexible, short-term credit facility for unexpected expenses.</p></li><li><p>If an unexpected expense causes you to overdraw your account, any income paid into your account will first be used to reduce the overdrawn balance. As a result, the amount remaining in your account will be lower, leaving you with less money to spend unless you overdraw your account again.</p></li><li><p>Being overdrawn comes with costs. Avoid unnecessary and prolonged overdrafts, even if you remain within your agreed limit. You can do this, for example, by reducing your spending in the following months. If you have sufficient savings, you may also choose to transfer part of your savings to your current account.</p></li><li><p>You pay interest when you use your overdraft limit. The ING Overdraft for students is intended for short-term use, for example if you receive an unexpected bill before your salary has been credited to your account. Example: At the end of the month, your account is overdrawn by €500. You then receive your salary of €1.500. To avoid becoming overdrawn again, you should ensure that your spending does not exceed €1.000 in this example.</p></li></ul>"},"title":"Risks of ING Overdraft for students"},{"componentType":"paragraph","richBody":{"value":"<p>Certain amounts are debited from your student account, such as credit card transactions or overdraft interest. If you do not have sufficient available funds in your account, this may cause you to exceed your overdraft limit, resulting in an unauthorised overdraft. You must repay the excess amount immediately. Since October 2024, you no longer pay interest on an unauthorised overdraft (although you still pay interest on any amount within your agreed limit).</p><p>If you do not repay the unauthorised overdraft within one month, we may terminate your ING Overdraft for students. This means that the entire negative balance on your student account will become an unauthorised overdraft.</p><p>Example: You have an overdraft limit of €500, but your account is overdrawn by €550. If you do not bring the balance back within your €500 limit within one month, we will terminate your ING Overdraft for students. You will then no longer have an overdraft limit, and the entire negative balance on your student account will be unauthorised.</p><p>If your overdraft limit exceeds €250, we will report this payment arrears to the BKR. These reports are known as negative BKR-registrations. A negative BKR-registration may have adverse consequences if, for example, you want to borrow money in the future or apply for a mortgage. For this product, the monthly amount consists only of interest. You are not required to repay monthly, but you may repay at any time without penalty. You pay interest only on the amount you actually use. The monthly amount is deducted in arrears each month.</p><p><strong>Duration</strong><br />The agreement has an indefinite duration.</p><p><strong>Other costs</strong><br />These are the costs that, in addition to interest, form part of the total cost of the credit.<br />For example, the costs of a current account at ING that is required to use the credit.<br />ING overdraft for students is linked to a free student account, so these costs are €0.</p><p><strong>Annual Percentage Rate (APR)</strong><br />This is the interest and any other costs you pay for the credit, expressed as an annual percentage of the total credit amount.<br />Because the student account is free of charge, the APR is equal to the debit interest rate.<br />For the calculation of this percentage, we assume the following:</p><ul><li>The total credit amount is withdrawn immediately and fully repaid after 3 months.</li><li>The debit interest rate does not change during the term.</li><li>You pay interest monthly, in arrears.</li><li>No additional repayments are made during the term and no new withdrawals are made.</li></ul>"},"title":"More information about the table"},{"richBody":{"value":"<p>When you take out a loan, you pay interest. This is also called a credit fee.<br />The maximum credit fee is the highest interest rate we are allowed to charge you for a credit.<br />Since 1 January 2026, the maximum credit fee has been 12%. This percentage is determined by the Dutch government.</p><p>The maximum credit fee consists of the variable statutory interest rate plus a maximum surcharge.<br />The government has set this maximum surcharge structurally at 8%.<br />Because the statutory interest rate fell from 6% to 4% on 1 January 2026, the maximum credit fee automatically fell from 14% to 12%.<br />The statutory interest rate is linked to market interest rate developments, meaning it has become cheaper for lenders to obtain funding.
