This can be too much or too little. When you accept it, you basically close the case for good. You and ING settle everything with each other. This means you can no longer submit a complaint about this topic (variable interest rates) or about the amount of compensation you received. Not to ING, and not to Kifid or the courts. If a contract’s compensation amount is €50 or more, you will receive a compensation proposal that needs to be signed. For compensation amounts under €50, no signature is required. This amount will be paid directly to the account number we have on record.</p><p>You can find the compensation calculation in MijnING or request it by sending an email to <a href=\"mailto:compensatieregeling@ing.nl\">compensatieregeling@ing.nl</a>. Make sure to include ‘Calculation requested for compensation’ in the subject line. For example, because your contract ended some time ago. If that’s the case, we will still try to determine whether you qualify for compensation by using averages and assumptions. If this isn’t possible, we may ask you to provide additional documentation, and at that time we will explain how you can send this information to us.</p>"}},{"title":"What is the legal interest rate?","richBody":{"value":"<p>The legal interest rate is set by the government and has been 4% since 1 January 2026.</p><p>From 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2025 it was 6%.</p><p>From 1 January 2024 to 31 December 2024 it was 7%.</p><p>From 1 July 2023 to 31 December 2023 it was 6%.</p><p>From 1 January 2023 to 30 June 2023 it was 4%, and before that it was 2% for a long period.</p>"}},{"title":"The outstanding balance in your compensation calculation is different from the balance on my bank statement. How is that possible?","richBody":{"value":"<p>The amount on your bank statement is your balance on a specific day. On other days of the month, you may have withdrawn or repaid money.</p><p>For the compensation calculation, we use the balance that was outstanding on average during the entire month. We calculate this using the interest you paid and your interest rate. This <strong>average </strong>outstanding balance can therefore be different from the balance on a specific day shown on your bank statement.</p>"}},{"title":"I see ‘extra compensation’ in my calculation. What is this?","richBody":{"value":"<p>On 1 May 2022, we lowered and fixed the interest rate on Revolving Credit. On 1 December 2022, we linked the variable interest rate for Revolving Credit Card to the maximum credit fee.</p><p>From those dates onward, you could no longer expect the interest rate to follow the market rate, so the Kifid ruling no longer applies. If we had paid out your compensation amount at that moment, and you had used it to repay your credit, your outstanding balance would have been lower and you would have paid the new interest rate on a smaller amount.
