When you buy a bond, you are lending money to a company or a government — in this case, ING. At the end of the bond’s term, the loan is repaid.</p><p>With a fixed‑rate bond, you know in advance how much interest you will receive during the bond’s term. This interest is also called the coupon rate and is definitively announced after the application period closes.</p><p>Because the interest rate may fluctuate during the application period, it is possible that you receive a higher interest rate than the one communicated beforehand. In the <strong>ING app</strong>, first go to your Self Invest account and then select ‘Transfer’.</li><li>In <strong>MyING</strong>, also start by selecting your Self Invest account, and via ‘Transfer money’ you can transfer money from your Payment Account to the cash section of your Investment Account.</li><li>ING may decide to close the application period earlier, for example if changing market conditions give reason to do so.</li></ul><ul><li>You can sell the bond at any time during its term. If you use MyING, you will find your application under ‘Order overview’. Go to your Self Invest account and select the bond you want to sell.</p><p>Click ‘Sell’ and enter the amount you want to sell under ‘Nominal amount’ (in multiples of €1,000).</p><p>When selling before the end of the term, the proceeds of your sale will not be exactly equal to the bond’s value, but slightly lower (0.5%). There are two different ways this can happen, depending on how the bond is traded.</p><p><span lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Clean</strong></span></p><p>If you see an amount listed as ‘accrued interest’ in your portfolio for the bond you want to sell, and the bond was issued before August 2024, then the bond is traded clean. This means the accrued interest is paid out separately when you sell. It is added on top of the price at which you sell the bond.</p><p><span lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Dirty</strong></span></p><p>Bonds issued from August 2024 onwards are traded dirty.
