You can invest with as little as ten euro at a time. But there are a few things you need to take into account.

In principle, the sky is the limit. So perhaps the question should not be “how much money” but “how much of my money” am I going to invest?

To answer this question properly, we actually look at two things. The first is how much risk you can take and the second is how much risk you are willing to take.

The first point concerns your personal situation. What are your income, expenses, assets, and debts? Are there any large expenses you may want to make in the relatively short term? For example, it is not responsible to invest your entire assets in risky investments if you need this money in the short term.

The second point concerns the risk you are willing to take. Investing is partly a matter of logic and partly a matter of gut feeling. If it keeps you awake at night, then it is not right for you. In panic situations, bad decisions are often made (e.g., selling at the lowest point), which obviously does not benefit your return.

You can find more information about risk and return here. In addition, there may be costs for maintaining the account; at ING, this is €20 per year. So, if you want to invest yourself, make sure you don't start with too low of an amount, otherwise the fixed costs per year will be relatively high in relation to your portfolio.

As for transaction costs, these vary per product at Self Invest.
