For example, if you, a family member or a housemate becomes seriously ill, is involved in an accident or passes away. You are also insured if a close friend passes away. The cancellation insurance also covers involuntary unemployment that you could not have foreseen at the time of booking your trip. You can take out continuous cancellation insurance up to 14 days after booking your trip. The cancellation insurance reimburses a maximum of €1,500, €2,500 or €5,000 per person per trip.

You want to cancel your trip or cut it short.
In this case, your cancellation insurance does not provide cover. In many situations, you may be able to claim compensation from the Calamities Fund (Calamiteitenfonds).

You still want to travel (for example because you are travelling to a different region within the country).
In that case, your travel insurance provides limited cover. You are not insured for matters related to the negative travel advisory.
Example: a negative travel advisory is issued due to a risk of flooding. If your belongings are damaged as a result of this flooding, there is no cover. For “regular” damage, such as the theft of your camera, the insurance cover is not restricted.
