Damaged your own belongings 

Such as accidentally sitting on your glasses. This type of damage is not covered.  

Tip: damage to your belongings may be covered by your comprehensive home contents insurance policy (Inboedelverzekering Allrisk). 

Damaged a co-insured family member's item 

Such as sitting on your co-insured partner's glasses. This type of damage is not covered. 

Tip: damage to your own belongings may be covered by your comprehensive home contents insurance policy (Inboedelverzekering Allrisk). 

Damaged someone else's item

Only covered if the damage was caused by accident. Like when you visit a friend and knock their TV over, or your child breaks a window playing football. 

Please note: To make a claim for damage caused by your partner or child, they must be included in your liability insurance policy. 

Damage to borrowed items is insured up to €25,000 per event. Damage to rented goods and borrowed motor vehicles, caravans, trailers, boats and aircrafts is not covered. 

Damaged rented goods 

Damage to rented goods for which you signed a rental, lease-purchase or lease agreement is not covered. This includes damage to rental cars or tools.  

Tip: the rental company may be able to help, or you could try making a claim on a different insurance policy. 

Damage caused by a motor vehicle 

Such as collision damage caused by you accidentally hitting an object or person with a car. This type of damage is not covered. Tip: your car insurance may cover the damage.

Damage to someone else's items or injury to their pets 

Such as your cat ripping your neighbour's curtains. This type of damage is covered.

In certain situations, you may be entitled to additional compensation if you've caused damage or injuries but aren't legally liable. This includes damage or injuries resulting from sports and games the affected party was not participating in. It also includes damage or injuries that occurred while were helping out a friend. The maximum compensation payout is €25,000.
