Someone who commits fraud misleads the financial services provider. This can be both when applying for insurance and when claiming a claim. Examples are:</span></span></span></span></p><ul><li><span><span><span><span lang=\"EN-US\" dir=\"ltr\">Consciously filling in incorrect information </span></span></span></span></li><li><span><span><span><span lang=\"EN-US\" dir=\"ltr\">Withhold Information </span></span></span></span></li><li><span><span><span><span lang=\"EN-US\" dir=\"ltr\">Falsifying an account or invoice </span></span></span></span></li><li><span><span><span><span lang=\"EN-US\" dir=\"ltr\">Staging a theft </span></span></span></span></li><li><span><span><span><span lang=\"EN-US\" dir=\"ltr\">Say a phone was damaged by someone else when you dropped it yourself. </span></span></span></span></li></ul><p><span><span><span><span lang=\"EN-US\" dir=\"ltr\">To prevent fraud, we screen the customers, employees and the companies we do business with. </span></span></span></span></p><p><span><span><span><span lang=\"EN-US\" dir=\"ltr\">The insurer and ING also deposit all claims in the database of foundation CIS. The insurer and ING launch an investigation if they suspect that someone has deliberately and intentionally given incorrect or incomplete information. </span></span></span></span></p>"}},{"componentType":"sectionTitle","title":"Fraud increases premium for fair customers"},{"componentType":"paragraph","richBody":{"value":"<p><span lang=\"EN-US\" dir=\"ltr\"><span><span>When people file claims that are not accurate, or deliberately give misinformation when applying for insurance, they don’t just harm the insurance company. They also disadvantage other policyholders. Abusing insurance means that insurers have to deal with high costs and unnecessary damage benefits. Ultimately, this also leads to higher premium </span></span></span></p>"}},{"componentType":"sectionTitle","title":"Our fraud policy"},{"componentType":"paragraph","title":"Prevention and detection of fraud","richBody":{"value":"<p><span><span><span><span lang=\"EN-US\" dir=\"ltr\">We recognise and record fraud in a number of ways.  For example, we use fraud indicators and digital tools to detect fraud. And of course we comply with the applicable laws and regulations.  </span></span></span></span></p><p><span><span><span><span lang=\"EN-US\" dir=\"ltr\">If there is a suspicion of fraud, we will start an investigation. If necessary, we also take action on the applicant. </span></span></span></span></p>"}},{"componentType":"paragraph","title":"Possible measures after detecting fraud","richBody":{"value":"<p><span><span><span><span lang=\"EN-US\" dir=\"ltr\">If it turns out that it is fraud, then measures can be taken by the insurer or ING. Examples:  </span></span></span></span></p><ul><li><span><span><span><span lang=\"EN-US\" dir=\"ltr\">Damage is not compensated</span></span></span></span></li><li><span><span><span><span lang=\"EN-US\" dir=\"ltr\">Research costs incurred must be paid by the insured. </span></span></span></span></li><li><span><span><span><span lang=\"EN-US\" dir=\"ltr\">Damage previously paid must be refunded</span></span></span></span></li><li><span><span><span><span lang=\"EN-US\" dir=\"ltr\">The relevant insurance and/or all insurances are canceled </span></span></span></span></li><li><span><span><span><span lang=\"EN-US\" dir=\"ltr\">Other services of ING (including banking services) will be terminated</span></span></span></span></li><li><span><span><span><span lang=\"EN-US\" dir=\"ltr\">Future insurance claims will be denied</span></span></span></span></li><li><span><span><span><span lang=\"EN-US\" dir=\"ltr\">Personal data of the fraud is reported to the Foundation Central Information System (CIS). Foundation CIS includes these in the warning system so that other insurers are warned</span></span></span></span></li><li><span><span><span><span lang=\"EN-US\" dir=\"ltr\">The personal data of the scammer will be withdrawn in our internal incident register, so that we can prevent recurrence in the future</span></span></span></span></li><li><span><span><span><span lang=\"EN-US\" dir=\"ltr\">Sometimes fraud is reported to the police</span></span></span></span></li></ul>"}},{"componentType":"paragraph","title":"Reporting to the police","richBody":{"value":"<p><span><span><span><span lang=\"EN-US\" dir=\"ltr\">Reporting fraud to the police is not done just like that. There is a standard amount of € 532. Sometimes we incur higher costs because we have external costs. And we bring that into account.   </span></span></span></span></p>"}},{"componentType":"sectionTitle","title":"Recording damages at Foundation CIS"},{"componentType":"paragraph","richBody":{"value":"<p><span><span><span><span lang=\"EN-US\" dir=\"ltr\">Foundation Centraal Informatie Systeem (CIS) is a foundation for insurance companies and authorized representatives operating in the Netherlands. The CIS database is independent and manages data that may be important for all insurers. In the CIS database all claims received (injury reports) are withdrawn. Both the insurers and the trustees.
