The amount of emissions is shown in kilograms of CO2e and is based on your spending. It is an indication. The emission factor differs per category. The emission factors are supplied and continuously updated by Cogo.</p><p>Important: The calculation of your personal CO₂ emissions takes place within ING’s secure and closed environment. It absorbs heat, keeping Earth’s temperature stable and comfortable. The burning of fossil fuels increases the amount of CO2, which leads to rising temperatures and climate change.</p>"}},{"title":"What is the difference between CO2 and CO2e?","richBody":{"value":"<p>Carbon dioxide (CO2) is the most important greenhouse gas when it comes to global warming. Besides CO2, methane and nitrous oxide are also significant greenhouse gases that contribute to warming. To determine the total effect of all greenhouse gases, CO2‑equivalents (CO2e) are used. For example, 1 kg of methane (CH₄) is 25 times more potent than 1 kg of CO2 over a period of 100 years. Nitrous oxide is even 298 times more potent than 1 kg of CO2. How long greenhouse gases remain in the atmosphere is not easy to determine.
