As ING we follow these rules and legislation. This can be recorded in a Certificate of Inheritance or Executor.</p>"},"title":"Am I authorised?"},{"richBody":{"value":"<p>If there is only 1 heir or executor, then this person is independently authorised.</p><p>If there are more heirs, then it can be wise to appoint 1 person to handle the inheritance. This person will be independently authorised to handle the inheritance on behalf of all the heirs.</p><p>Joint jurisdiction is recorded in a Certificate of Inheritance or Executor. As a child, you want to help your parent. When your mum or dad is the authorised person, then you can help your parent to report the death via their own ING app or My ING.</p><p>It is important that your mum or dad is logged in because we determine the necessary documents and next steps partially based on who is reporting the death (the person logged in). These documents are needed to confirm that you are authorised to handle the inheritance. Which documents are needed depends on the way of acceptance and the personal situation of the deceased. We follow the directive of the <a href=\"https://www.nvb.nl/meer/verklaring-van-erfrecht-check-direct/\">Nederlandse Vereniging van Banken</a> (Dutch Banking Association).</p><p>You don&apos;t have any additional documents (yet)? That&apos;s not a problem. You can start reporting the death. The notary investigates who the heirs are, how they accept the inheritance and if the deceased had a will drawn up. The conclusion of this investigation is mentioned in the Certificate of Inheritance. It tells who the heirs are, how the inheritance is accepted and it&apos;s a way for the heirs and executors to demonstrate their rights and authorisation. You can request a Certificate of Inheritance via a Dutch notary. We follow the Dutch rules and regulations before we give someone access to the products of the deceased. As a bank, we cannot determine whether there is more information on the inheritance elsewhere. We also cannot know whether all heirs are still alive or have rejected the inheritance and therefore have to claim anymore. The bank cannot investigate these matters. A notary, however, can. Even more so, it is their job to do so. They have the knowledge and capabilities to interpret a complex document such as a Last Will and Testament. This is why the bank can in some cases require a Certificate of Inheritance even though there is a Last Will and testament. The Extract from the Central Register of Wills tells if the deceased had a will drawn up, and if so, when and at which notary office. You can request a written extract free of charge via the form of <a href=\"https://www.notaris.nl/files/Documenten/aanvraagformulier-ctr-particulieren.pdf?438a81d679\">centraal testamentenregister</a>.<br /><br />Be aware! We only accept a written request, a digitally requested statement is not accepted. It is, however, possible to upload or email the written request once you have received this from the Central Register of Wills. The digitally requested statement contains a waiver from the CTR that no assurances can be given with that statement. An important reason for making this choice is when you&apos;re not sure if there are more debts than possessions. Then you still have to report the death. After reporting the death, you can change the Joint account to a Current account or you can terminate the account. </p><p>We <strong>don&apos;t </strong>block a Joint account, but be aware that we do terminate the personal means of payment of the deceased. Such as a debit card and My ING. Check that you, as a joint accountholder, have your own debit card and My ING. Be aware that this authorisation is terminated after reporting a death. This is also the case on a Joint account.
