In the Netherlands, this consists of 18 characters. In other SEPA countries, it can be up to 34 characters long.</li><li><strong>Add a description: 140 characters</strong><br />European transfers allow extra characters for the description field. You can use this space to include a message or reference.</li><li><strong>Payment reference: 16 to 25 characters</strong><br />You can still use the current Dutch payment reference of 16 characters.
