When you pay with your smartphone, the payment details are exchanged in the same way (via NFC).

In order to activate and use Google Pay for payments, ING shares your name, address and telephone number with Google. You must ensure that this information is correct. Google compares this information with the contact details you use for your Google account. They do this to prevent possible fraud. If you pay with Google Pay, Google receives your payment information. This includes the date and time of the payment, but also the amount and the name of the store where you paid. Google also receives payment information from Mastercard/ Visa. This makes the transaction technically possible. After you have activated Google Pay, Google is responsible for keeping your personal data secure and for any use thereof, and Google's privacy statement applies. Please check the status of your debit card. If your Visa/Mastercard debit card is blocked, it will not appear in the list of available cards.
Unblock your card first. Once unblocked, it will reappear in the list and you’ll be able to activate it for Google Pay.
Does your Debit Card show a Visa or Mastercard logo? Then you can withdraw cash by simply holding your card, or the digital version on your phone or smartwatch, near the special NFC reader on the ATM. Enter your PIN-code of your physical card, and you're done.
