This is the result of European banking regulations. A correct IBAN and BIC can only be obtained via the beneficiary (or their bank). Without the relevant IBAN and BIC, the foreign bank may reject your payment instruction and return it, possibly deducting additional fees. You may not receive the full amount back. In the standard payment screen, ING automatically fills in the BIC. In the International Business Payment screen, this is not always done, as IBAN has not yet been implemented worldwide. Therefore, in some cases, you will need to enter the correct BIC yourself.
