We arrange for the Documentary Collection to be presented to your customer’s nominated bank.
Your customer receives the documents once their bank has made the payment or your customer has accepted the bill of exchange. These arrangements are set out in the collection instructions.
You still run the risk that your customer will not comply with the collection instructions after you have already shipped the goods. A Documentary Collection is therefore most suitable if you have sufficient confidence in your customer.

We then send all the trade documents to your business partner’s bank. Only then can your business partner use the trade documents to take possession of the goods.

There are two types of Documentary Collection.
With documents against payment (D/P), also known as cash against documents (CAD), the trade documents are released once payment has been made.
Documents against acceptance (D/A) is a form of deferred payment, usually involving a bill of exchange. As the importer, you receive the trade documents only after you have accepted the bill of exchange. By accepting it, you undertake to pay the agreed amount on its due date. The bill of exchange therefore serves as your formal acceptance of the payment obligation.
