Over the coming months, more and more consumers will receive the new Mastercard Debit and Visa Debit cards and start using them for payments.
To ensure you can accept Mastercard Debit and Visa Debit cards, we will (in most cases) make sure that all payment terminals used by our merchants are ready in time. An additional benefit: tourists who currently cannot pay with their Mastercard or Visa debit card (from the EU) will soon be able to do so.

As of 1 January 2025, you are required to accept Mastercard and Visa credit cards on your payment terminal. This is due to changes in Mastercard and Visa regulations.

The Dutch Payments Association is coordinating a central programme to ensure that all merchants with one or more payment terminals are ready in time to accept the new debit cards.
