For example, we act as broker for certain non- life insurance policies. In this case, ING is your primary point of contact. The insurer will enter into an insurance agreement with you directly and therefore requires your personal data to collect the premiums and, for example, to pay out approved claims.
When we act as an MGA (managing general agent) in concluding and administering an insurance policy, we provide personal data to the insurer (including for the administration of the insurance policies) and to our partners (including for the handling of claims). In that case, our partners act on behalf of ING and will communicate with you accordingly.
In addition, where necessary we provide your personal data to third parties we engage in assessing claims, such as repair networks, legal expenses insurers, loss adjusters, or other parties involved in assessing or handling claims.
ING or the insurer also shares your data with Stichting Centraal Informatie Systeem (Stichting CIS). To prevent fraud, we check whether you are listed in the insurers’ Referral Register or the Fraud Information System Holland (FISH). We are also required, via Stichting CIS, to check whether you and/or co insured persons appear on international sanctions lists. In some cases, your data is recorded by us or by the insurer in FISH, for example if we terminate your insurance due to claims history or non payment, or if you commit fraud. If this occurs, you will be informed. Claims notifications are also recorded in FISH. Other affiliated insurers use this information when assessing insurance applications.
